COURSE OVERVIEW

The training is split into the following sections:

  • Unit 1: The Science

    • This unit covers the science behind greenhouse gas emissions and man-made climate change. We understand how we know that climate change is man-made and the resulting impacts climate change is having on our planet.

  • Unit 2: Carbon Footprints

    • In this unit we understand the complexities that make up carbon footprints for individuals and organisations and how we can meaningfully reduce emissions.

  • Unit 3: Climate Leadership

    • We learn why climate leadership in business is crucial to reaching Net Zero, the tools to become an effective climate leader & why it makes business sense as well as ethical sense to become a climate leader today.

  • Unit 4: Mindfulness and Empowerment

    • This unit takes the form of an interactive workshop where we implement learning from the previous unit’s before learning why it’s important to consider mental wellbeing and empowerment when tackling a threat as existential as the climate crisis.

OUR MISSION.

At CLT, our mission is for the whole world to become carbon literate - a pretty big aim!

The reason we aim so high is because we understand how fragile the state of the planet is due to climate change, how much damage we are facing/set to face and how little time we have before the damage done is irreversible. To achieve the change necessary, we need a global effort.

Robin has 4 much younger siblings who will all be alive come the year 2100. Currently, most of the worlds focus is what the world will look like in 2050. Many current future forecasts for 2050 look bleak to say the least - but this pales in comparison when looking to 2100. We do not seek to be in any way alarmist at CLT but the simple fact of the matter is that without significant emissions reductions in the next decade, life as we know it may never be the same again - Robin, like everyone else, wants a happy and healthy future for his younger siblings.

Carbon Literacy is crucial to our future existence and happiness. It provides an awareness of the carbon costs and impacts of everyday activities and the ability and motivation to reduce emissions to avoid climate change. This sort of awareness is being taught more and more to young people in schools - but the sad irony is that by the time these young people are old enough to implement their learning, it may be too late.

Our belief at CLT is that carbon literacy is a skill that every adult should have access to, just as every adult should be taught how to read and write. Our reasons for creating a training course in carbon literacy and climate leadership for business leaders and future leaders is influence. Business leaders are in positions where they can influence multiple areas (people, place, practice, policy, position, planning) and…they are leaders! Their position is one where enabling others to deliver a mutual goal and vision is paramount. Our training therefore is for anyone who leads or has the ambition to lead in business or their personal life - meaning it is applicable to CEO’s, management, supervisors or new employees.

What People Are Saying

Really gives the problems and solutions of climate change a tangible feel.

Leon Brown, Business Support Administrator

Grimsby Community Energy, Partner of Smarter Energy NEL

Robin was very knowledgeable about the subject and pitched it really well, in terms of making people feel positive about what they can do and not bad about they haven't done until now. I have recommended this training to my organisation because although it is applicable to any business, Robin's background in the arts would give it the right angle for us as he understands our work and sector in relation to these issues.

Darren Leadsom, Education and Inclusion Manager

More Music

“The course is highly professional, informative and well structured… the best course I have ever attended

Helena Persion, Development Manager

Marston Holdings

“Robin's approach to training was dynamic and informative, offering important and intelligent insights into an often seemingly impenetrable topic. The session was educational, bringing tangible actions into focus for attendees and their organisations. I would heartily recommend Climate Leadership Training's sessions for organisations looking to up-skill and educate their staff and stakeholders in Carbon Literacy.“

George Soave, Project Manager

XTRAX

I thought Robin was great! I went into it thinking it was going to be another corporate box ticking exercise, with the main goal of saying we have done it. However, I found it to be more passionate and more personal which I really liked. I think Robin conveyed the issues very well and the way he talked about the nuances of climate issues was good.

William McAlllister, R&D Engineer & Data Analyst

Vortex

Useful to gain a wider understanding of the many far reaching implications of a) our actions and b) what the implications of doing nothing / not doing enough are.

Kate Learmouth, Marketing & Audience Development Manager

First Art

“The training is empowering and manages to create an excellent balance of knowing the facts, being appropriately alarmed by them and feeling able to act. The continual reminder of not judging or being judged was motivating.”

Jocelyn Cunningham, Company Director

Lancaster Arts

I really enjoyed Robin's approach to the very important issue of climate change. It was informative without being judgmental or alarmist. Robin met everyone at where they were in their climate journey/awakening!
